6 Ultimate Recipes for Juices and smoothies

If your daughters are like mine, they light up at sound of soda drinks and fast food.

McDonald, Chicking and Coca cola, Pepsi are their favourite brand names and the products they offer are lifesavers for them.

Even when not having fast food, non vegetarian dishes are what they crave for and in the rush of daily life I always end up feeling that the girls are not getting enough nutrients. It is another matter that if I give them a plateful of salads they will just pick some two pieces and leave it. The cold season and alergies are always around and maybe it is the lack in their diet that cause all these problems

I am really concerned about the effect of the fast food on their body . There are reports in the dailies that the consumption of these junk food could lead to diabetes and other health problems. I would like to go for some healthy alternatives to these foods which are devoid of any nutrients. Of course I would choose fruits and vegetables but my kids do not agree . So I have devised a juicing strategy in our house which (whenever I remember to make) gives me peace of mind that they have had that days’ worth of nutrients in one tall glass of juice.

A very good alternative to the fatty fast food. My kids get to enjoy their vitamins minerals fiber and other vital nutrients.

I have two methods when juicing. One is blending a smoothie in my blender. The other is juicing using a juicer.

Juices Vz Smoothies
Juicing is the process in which liquid and nutrients are extracted from fruits and vegetables. Whereas in blending to make a smoothie, the whole fruit and vegetable including fiber are blended in the juice. Both process have their pros and cons.
With juicing your digestive system can absorb the nutrients in the juice pretty quickly without taxing the digestive system. Nutrients are easily accessible to your body. In Blending smoothies, as the entire fruit is present, it is more filling to have them when compared to juices.
Juicing in a Mixer grinder is not an easy task as it involves cleaning up a lot of accessories like the strainer cotton cloth. But making a smoothie in a Mixie is very easy.
Juices are easily digested, the nutrients in them readily available, as soon as you consume them. Juices are sudden high energy giving food, making them ideal to give to the kids when they have had a strenuous day or if you are planning a long day of shopping or travel. But the problem is that when juicing we remove the fibre of the vegetables and fruits. Juices are also not very filling. Whereas in smoothies we get the benefits of juicing along with the fibre. They are also very easy to make. You can combine nuts like almonds, almond milk and coconut milk, coconut water when making the smoothie which will enrich the flavour as well as nutrients.
